The consultative meeting of political parties is being held today in Sana’a a about the participation of women in politics, which organized by the Youth Leadership Development Foundation for two days as part of its program “Women in Politics” which is being implemented in partnership with UN Women and with the participation of 22 member of the seven leaders of the Yemeni political parties ” Umma Party of Yemen , the Arab Spring party , the Party for Justice and Development , the General People’s Congress Party , the Yemeni Socialist Party , the Yemeni Labor Party , National Party. ”

The coordinator of the consultative meeting Kafia AL-Afif clarified the aim of the consultative meeting which is to discuss the challenges and recommendations to enhance women’s roles within the party in an effective role … In addition to participate in advocating women’s rights and issues in the political parties.
Al-Afif added : During the meeting we will present papers to analyze the situation of women in the political sphere, the representation and the political participation of Arab women in decision-making positions and their role in the peace process ..
As well reviewing the current regional political experiences of other countries in the same field and a presentation from the participating parties in this program about their constitutions and the status of women in these constitutions.

She said that the consultative meeting comes as part of its program “Women in Politics” which aimed seven political parties in order to promote the political participation of Yemeni women through enhancement among the actors in the political sphere and the involvement of women as decision-makers and to promote a friendly environment to encourage the political participation of women
