Churkin: London is the biggest beneficiaries from war in Yemen

The permanent representative of Russia to the UN , Vitaly Churkin, said that Britain is one of the biggest beneficiaries from the Yemen war, calling for the abandonment of London for its oversight of the Yemeni file at the UN Security Council.

Churkin also reminded at a meeting Monday, October 31 that UK is preparing the texts of the resolutions on the situation in Yemen , in which has no right to oversee Security Council UN questions on Yemen, for «has a material interest in the continuing armed conflict» , pointing out that London since March 2015 sold in the region of arms for the sum more than 3 billion pounds, that is about 5 billion dollars.

The Russian diplomat said «From these weapons killed civilians », recalling the bombing of a funeral in Yemen in October 8 , killing at least 140 people and injuring more than 500.

On the other hand Houthis charged the Saudi led coalition the responsible for this attack,Churkin stressed that Moscow did not support the UK texts of the resolutions on this situation «which frankly weak» and do not reflect the real situation in the region, pointing out that this text of resolutions did not specify who was responsible or call for an investigation and punish those responsible.

The Russian Ambassador to the UN, said «the membership of the Council now preparing new members that we think could take on responsible and objective supervision of the Yemeni subjects in the Council Security rather than Britain.»
