?Are Ould Cheikh meetings going to change anything in Yemen

The Foreign Ministry confirmed Tuesday its appreciation for all the efforts made by the UN Secretary-General’s special envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, to stop the aggression and lift the siege on Yemen, in particular the immediate lifting on commercial civil aircrafts to Sana’a International Airport.

With regard to the forthcoming briefing of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations before the Security Council, to be held on Thursday, 26 January 2017, in New York, the Ministry expressed its hope that his statement reflects the real situation in Yemen which clarifies the position of the Supreme Political Council and the Government of National Salvation to achieve equitable peace on the country.

Ould Cheikh Ahmed visited Sana’a on 22 and 23 January to complete consultations on the peaceful political settlement before submitting his periodic reports to the Security Council on Thursday, 26 January.
